DDM4SME meets BIDT Think Tank

On 9.5.2022, a team of researchers from the DDM4SME project consisting of Prof. Clemens Appl (University of Continuing Education Krems) and Prof. Philipp Homar (Johannes Kepler University Linz / University of Continuing Education Krems) participated in the „Research & Policy Workshop on Data-Driven Economy“ which was held at the Bavarian Research Institute for Digital Transformation (bidt) in Munich. The workshop was organized by Dr. Roland A. Stürz, Head of the bidt Think Tank.

The workshop was opened by Prof. Appl with an introduction into the research project DDM4SME („Higher Education on Data Economy Law for SME and StartUps“). After the introduction, Prof. Appl further presented on legal challenges of „Algorithmic Copyright Enforcement and ‚User Rights‘ compliance“ in which legal questions on digital media platforms were discussed with the workshop participants.  

Prof. Homar then presented on „Intellectual Property Aspects of Artificial Intelligence“ and shared thoughts on the protectability of innovations created by AI under copyright and patent law. 

The workshop was concluded by a presentation of Dr. Stürz in which fundamental outcomes of the study bidt-sz-digitalbarometer was introduced and discussed among the participants.
